What Makes an Extraordinary Life?

March 22, 2010

So, what does make an extraordinary life? Is it the kind of work you do? Could be. Is it how much money you make? Maybe. Is it the kind of clothes you wear or the type of house you live in? Perhaps.

As I move through this life -  and walk with others on their jouney – what I find that makes an extraordinary life is that – IT YOURS! It’s your life to do with whatever floats your boat! I know I write a lot about choice and that how you choose to move through your life is really up to you.

From a young age I knew that I was uniquely different. I knew things that other kids my age didn’t. Did that set me apart from the rest of the crowd. Yes and no. It wasn’t until I was much older that I found out how great it was to be unique, different and extraordinary. It wasn’t until I was older that I looked back on my younger years, grateful for the life experience and glad I don’t have to do it again, and discovered that being Extraordianry was my choice. I love being that soul-surfer, riding the waves of life. Fall much? Oh yeah, but getting right back up and trying something new was half the fun.

Today, I did extrarodinary! I ran 5 miles. What’s extraordinary about that? I decided to run my first half-marathon – at 47. I’m training for the run in April. Kinda cool.

I went for a walk with my kids and there friends. What’s extraordinary about that? We went to the beach, with the dog, and explored! We found some lobster-like thing ( we really don’t know what it was). We discovered that none of us could do a polar bear plunge because the water is just toooooooo cold. And that kids will try anything – even crossing the lazy river when it’s 40 degrees. (They did a half polar bear plunge and didn’t realize it.)

See, anything you do can be EXTRAORDINARY! It’s all in how you look at it.  So, go out and Take Life from ordinary to Extraordinary.

When you get an idea, try it. See where it takes you. What path will you go down? When you follow your heart and your soul you can make the ordinary things in your life become extraordinary.
